You’re the God of this city, you’re the king of these people, you’re the Lord of this nation, you are. We proclaimed the city of Pittsburgh as yours today.
The day started with breakfast and celebrating a few girls birthday and having a much needed amazing worship time with the worship pastor! Joel spoke about the background of the church, and then.. we went for a prayer walk. The cool thing about this prayer walk is the fact that we were stepping in to pray for a building that Joel’s campus is wanting to purchase and so we went to downtown Pittsburgh in the strip mall and did a prayer walk. For some people it was there first time so they really enjoyed it.
Lunch crept up on us, and then it was next to our next task. We worked down in the city with Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, with whom the Orchard Hill Church was really wanting to make their name known. We went down there hoping to help them out with that. We split off into three different teams: weeding, picking up cigarette butts, and cleaning the alleys. At the end of the day, everything looked absolutely amazing!
After an ice cream treat, we all went back to the church and debriefed. The students had so much good to say about the day and had such deep thoughts. Once we realize that the people who go past us needed God just as much as we need him, our perspectives change. We pray for them harder and want their hearts to shift towards God. So many people encouraged us today while we were cleaning and we were so surprised. Man, it rings true “be the change you want to see in this world.” The people who went by us didn’t know us, but saw that we were doing a good thing and thought that more people should do more of what we were doing, it starts with one person who has a vision for something and shifting in the atmosphere happens. God, who lives in our hearts and is our father in heaven is the same God who lives in Pittsburgh and in your city. We need to as a body stand up and see things through his eyes and proclaim the cities that we encounter as ours!
As we get ready to go to bed, the girls realize that we only have a few short days left so they went around in a circle and opened up about going back home. The atmosphere that we have created, and I could probably say for the guys as well, is one that they will truly never forget. Relationships can be hard to form, but they have been so open and willing. We love them so much but we will be soaking in these last few moments before we give the, back to you.
We love you guys, goodnight from team buckeye
